Min första tanke är att det kan vara något med nätet som krånglar, antingen hos dig eller någon annanstans på vägen...

Edgy nådde "End of Life" i våras så det är hög tid att uppgradera.

Hur gör jag för att installera den senaste update manager? Jag kör alltså via prompten.

enligt instruktionerna.

Men det står även

The latest version of Update Manager (0.45.2) must be installed before you upgrade. Otherwise, you will receive an Authentication failed error. See here for instructions how to check if you have the required version.

Får dock fortfarande inte något resultat när jag kör:

Jo det var en knepig utmaning.....

Nu kommer inte jag ihåg hur det såg ut i Edgy men kolla.

Meny System > Administration > Programvarukällor eller om man översatt det Mjukvarukällor...

I mitten har du en rullgardin, ändra till "Main" som repo.

Plus en uppdatering. Ska kolla lite mer på det här....

Till 8.04 ska det bara gå att nå från 6.06 eller 7.10

Ok. Så då står det fel i instruktionerna alltså?

do-release-upgrade

och det fungerade bra. Det räckte alltså med update-manager-core. update-manager var inte nödvändig.

Jo funkar det så är det ju bara bra...

Vart landade du ?

Ska ju då bara gå från 6.06 till 8.04 alt 7.10 > 8.04

Om du landade med 7.04 så borde GUIet funka nu.
