yea.. One of Microsoft's strongest weapon against Android has been the patents licensed by Androidsuppliers. Now, one of them declared invalid in Germany.

It may not be widely known, but it is estimated that Microsoft earns about $ 8 per sold Android phone. Together , this is estimated to be approximately $ 3.4 billion in the year 2013. Suppliers of other Linux-based systems will pay about the same amount to Microsoft

This occurs as a result of the patent portfolio that Microsoft has , and own selected patents and those determined to have bought into . Some of the most important patents in the whole portfolio is around the FAT file system that is used on the storage card of various types.

Now one of them, the File Allocation Table (FAT) or " Common name space for long and short filenames " declared invalid by the German Federal Patent Court on the grounds that the patented something that's too obvious.

This is an important ruling for Microsoft used this patent in particular to prevent Motorola to sell its Android phones in Germany. It has also been used to push the GPS provider Tom Tom to pay fees to Microsoft despite TomTom uses Linux in their ps units.

But it is too early to say hello. This patent has previously been invalid for later re-emerge , but then it was in the United States.
