Bytte från 12.04 till 12.10. Men det verkar ha uppstått flera fel
vid uppgradering.

När jag loggat in är skrivbordet blankt, och programstartaren syns inte till
Dessutom verkar Ubuntu inte förstå vilket grafikkort jag har utan har bytt till någon slags default-VGA-upplösning av lägsta kvalitet

Jag kan bara köra ett program i taget och fönsterdekorationen har försvunnit.


Jag kan komma åt Terminalen, och körde kommandot

Hej prova det här sen det här för att nollställa Unity. Installera dconf det krävs att man har paketet dconf-tools installerat vilket du installerar enkelt med kommandot: Kanske kan det hjälpa OBS!! Börja med att installera dconf om du inte redan har det paketet!

Hjälpte tyvärr inte.

Kommandot dconf reset -f /org/compiz kördes utan problem. När jag körde setsid unity fick jag samma långa felmeddelande som ovan

Omstart tycktes inte hjälpa något.
Men jag har lyckats komma framåt ändå. I inloggningsdialogen kunde jag välja "Gnome Classic (no effects)" som alternativ och då kan jag åtminstonde få tillgång att kunna starta de olika programmen. Högst upp står det då "Program" samt "Platser" samt en Ubuntu-ikon.

Grafiken är dock helg konstig, det ser mer ut som en negativ svart-vit bild än en datorskärm. Men när jag ändrad upplösning till 1024x768 och sedan tillbaka igen till 1280x1024 då kommer ordinarie färger/grafik tillbaka igen. Och fönsterdekoreringen återställs så jag kan minimera/maximera fönster igen.
Fast när jag startar om datorn får jag göra om samma elände igen.

Det verkar som att datorn viduppstart inte förstår att jag har ett ATI-grafikkort utan går in i någon slags grundinställning.

Kanske en dum fråga men vad har du för grafikkort? AMD/ATI brukar normalt fungera.. Han du att provar att använda ditt grafikkort i standard utförade, "Nuova version"

Efter lite sökande har jag förstått att det verkar som att mitt grafikkort (ATI Saphire Radeon 3870) är ett av de kort som inte längre är kompatibla med X-Org server 1.13 som används i 12.10

Med hjälp från den sidan kunde jag installera en ny version av Catalyst som bättre klarade av det hela. Så jag kom igång.

Tyvärr visade det sig i går torsdag att grafikkortet tvärdog. När jag skulle starta datorn så betedde sig datorn helt livlöst. Så jag plockade ur grafikkortet, och då började datorn åtminstonde ge ifrån sig de bekanta pipande som uppstår om man försöker starta en dator utan grafikkort. Ur gömmorna kunde jag plocka fram ett NVIDIA-kort och det är åter liv i datorn.

Det är väl knappast Ubuntu som orsakat att grafikkortet dog. Det är 4 ½ år sedan jag köpte det. Så nästa inköp blir nog ett Radeon 7XXX-kort.

Hej, helt suveränt att du hittade ett annat grafikkort så att du kunde prova med det och se att datorn fungerade bra igen Jag tror inte Ubuntu har något med att ditt ATI-kort gått sönder eller vad som hänt med det kortet? Om det var så skulle man hört för länge sen ifall Ubuntu käkar upp AMD/ATI grafikkort
