jag försöker uppdatera i Ubuntu 8.10 utan tillfredsställande resultat:

thomas@thomas-laptop:~$ sudo apt-get update
E: Metoddrivrutinen /usr/lib/apt/methods/http kunde inte hittas.
E: Metoddrivrutinen /usr/lib/apt/methods/HTTP kunde inte hittas.
E: Metoddrivrutinen /usr/lib/apt/methods/HTTP kunde inte hittas.
E: Metoddrivrutinen /usr/lib/apt/methods/http kunde inte hittas.

Kommer ju upp en notifiering emellanåt om att jag bör uppdatera, men det blir samma sak där, "kunde inte hämta alla förrådsindex.. och sen ovanstående meddelanden.".

Vad är det som inte finns egentligen? I methods ligger bland andra en fil som heter http.distrib.

Hur ska jag gå vidare?

Det är troligt att du har nåt fel på filen /etc/apt/sources.list. Kolla dessa länkar;

Det är lite struligt eftersom du just nu inte kan installera om apt-get på det vanliga sättet. Men jag tror att du kan hämta sources.list och lägga in själv, och/eller hämta apt-get som deb-paket och installera om på det viset.

Kollade på länkarna du gav mig, installerade om apt_0.7.14ubuntu6_i386.deb, med samma slutresultat. Det finns ju en nyare version: apt_0.7.20.2ubuntu5_i386.deb, är det något jag ska installera eller kommer allt att flyga i luften då?

Skickar med en kopia på min sources.list om det är något galet där:

Jag hinner tyvärr inte kolla listan, men kanske någon annan kunnig kan.

Dock tycker jag du kan pröva apt_0.7.20.2ubuntu5_i386.deb
Först kan du flytta den befintliga listan med;

sudo mv /etc/apt/sources.list sources.list.old

Den gamla hamnar då överst i din hemmapp som backup.
