Jag har på nåt sätt lyckats att få synaptic att krascha när jag skulle installera V-box 2.1 i Intrepid Ibex.

Detta kommer upp:

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

Det inträffade när jag gick igenom denna guide:

och tror att följande är problemet

"Open System->Administration->Software Sources and select the Third Party Software tab. Add the following software source:
deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian intrepid non-free

Close Software Sources and when prompted, choose to reload the repositories."


Någon som har en lösning? tror jag måste ändra några repositories, men kommer inte åt detta.

Vad händer om du kör sudo dpkg --configure -a i terminalen då?

without a suitabled kernel module you will not be able to start any VMs.
it is strongly recommended to compile a kernel module now. The kernel headers and the tools to build kernel modules (gcc, make, binutils, ...) are required. However if you know that a suitable kernel module already exists at another location, you might want to override the default by setting KDIR=«full_path_to_vboxdrv_module» in /etc/default/virtualbox.
The compilation can also be done later by executing

/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup

as root

körde detta och då verkar det funka som det ska. Eller i alla fall Virtualbox. verkar fortfarande vara problem med att få igång synaptic.

Svarade du "ja" på frågan om du ville kompilera en kärnmodul? Annars kör du kommandot:
sudo /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup

När datorn säger åt dig att du ska göra något som root betyder det att du ska sätta sudo framför kommandot. Det betyder Super User DO och ger dig tillfälliga root-rättigheter.
