Har precis lyckats installera Ubuntu mha ett usb-minne

Jag har en laptop från LG (LGA1) med inbyggt 3g-modem.
Hur får jag igång modemet

Det underlättar om du berättar vad det är för modem.

Såklart, men då måste jag fråga hur jag får reda på det? (kör gnome)

Det kommandot bör kunna avslöja det tycker jag.

Fick igång umtsmon 1 gång. Sen frös datorn ala windoze style och nu vägrar umtsmon att starta.

Det finns ett program som heter Hardinfo som visar vad som finns i burken. Jag tycker du ska ringa till LG och fråga dom.

Vore synd om du byter till Windows bara för att LG inte orkade bry sig om att ordna riktigt information om produkten.

Kortet står inte i din output, men är ett Sierra MC8775 ***

Anledningen till att det inte står i outputen är för att kortet döljs av tillverkaren.

Löst, la in Vista igen.

Jag har ett inbyggt sierra som inte heller vill connecta som det ska... några idéer?

Har du testat Itrepid , den har en ny networkmanager som kan 3G!

Denna tråden är markerad med en bock, som i löst, i alla fall enligt min tolkningsförmåga som nog är rätt gängse. Den är emellertid inte alls löst - att installera Vista är inte riktigt en lösning av problemet. Det är på sin höjd ett kringgående av det.

Mitt mål var att komma online, vilket gängse normer i min värld är ganska så vanligt mål med en dator. Detta uppnådde Vista utan handpåläggning, script eller skrivande i konsollen.

Fast vad jag läst mig till så ska 3G-problemen vara löst i Intrepid. Så Ubuntu ska få en chans till

Jag har alltså senaste ubuntu interp. med alla uppdateringar (senaste kom 107 uppdateringar nu på morgonen).

vet inte vad jag ändrat men jag läste min connectlogg här uppe och så här ser den ut nu: Jag kan alltså pinga till google osv men bara som ip i terminalen, jag kan inte resolva dnser i firefox osv. ssh fungerar även detta med denna uppkoppling.

Det innbyggda nm-applet fungerar inte, och jag får ju inte veta vad som är fel (returnerar ingenting när jag testar, finns säkert någon logg?), körde den i terminalen men fick ingen info.

Ok, nu fungerar det. Efter lite sök på google så kom jag fram till att jag var tvungen att lägga till 1 rad i resolv.conf
