Jag fick ett mail om uppdatering av Open Office till 2.3.1.
Laddade hem denna fil samt extraherade den.
Vad gör man sedan?

om du är 150 % säker att du fick mailet från någon OFFICIELL källa OCH har laddat ned filen från en OFFICIELL källa kan du ju försöka installera filen ...

men personligen skulle jag radera den filen så snabbt som möjligt ... mig veterligen kan du knappast få MAIL om att du ska uppgradera OpenOffice! (om någon annan vet mer, rätta mig mer än gärna) ...

i de flesta linux-distributioner, så också i ubuntu, har din pakethanterare hand om att uppgradera dina program ... ibland medelst någon liten popup/ikon/liknande i någon menylist som talar om att det finns nya program att hämta - men hämtningen sköter pakethanteringssystemet självt! Du ska alltså vare sig få MAIL om det - eller behöva ladda ned paketet självt ... (om du nu inte ska köra in en specifik beta-version eller liknande förstås) ...

Så här såg det ut.
Kan det vara något lurt?

Du måste gjort nåt så tokigt som att registrera dig hos Sun, hehe...

Men oavsett så är det Alatariel skriver att dom uppdateringarna kommer automatiskt när dom finns tillgängliga... Man bör notera att OpenOffice i ubuntu är en specialare kompilerad av Ubuntu/Canonical så invänta Ubuntu's egen update.

Vad är det som är så tokigt med Sun?
Dom har faktiskt varit med ganska länge.
Varför har Open Office inte något större stöd av Ubuntu?
Var naiv att tro att man tänkte åstadkomma något i stil med Microsofts Access i
deras Officepaket.

OpenOffice.org Databas finns i förrådet om du inte har det installerat.
För mej när jag installera gutsy så installerades det själv så...

Råkade du ta bort det då eller?... men aja som sagt det finns ju i förrådet:)

Nej det finns installerat och fungerar.
Men, Jag fick ett mail om att det fanns en uppgradering av OO till version 2.3.1.
Eftersom det finns en del darrigheter i OO tänkte jag att jag skulle ta chansen och uppdatera och hämtade då hem filen på vanligt windowsmanér.
Tydligen inte bra?

Ja, hoppas att dom fixar buggarna i programmet. Stöter på en bugg dagligen som inte fanns i tidigare versioner.
