Radeon grafikkort

Hejsan :)

Jag har förstått (tror jag) att det finns problem med ATI-grafikkort och Ubuntu?
Är det alltså så att man behöver installera några speciella drivrutiner för att allt ska funka?

Jag hittade min väg till Restricted drivers management och enablade at-drivern som fanns där, men då kunde jag inte ha högre upplösning än 1024x768 sen...

Jag har också sett vissa krångliga guider på internet för hur man installerar nån drivrutin...

Men det jag egentligen undrar är, behöver man nånting överhuvudtaget, och i så fall, vilket är det lättaste/bästa sättet att fixa det på?

Jag har ett Radeon 9600...
Och jag är ganska supernoob på ubuntu ;)

Sitter själv med Radeon 9600, borde funka bra med envy till ditt kort.

Efter du har installerat grafik korts drivrutiner, så kör detta i terminalen:

Kod: Markera allt

fglrxinfo
Och skriv här vad du får för resultat. Då ser vi om det funkade eller inte.

Börja göra backup på Xorg:

Installera 8.39.4 Drivrutin manuellt
Ta hem ATI drivrutiner: ati-driver-installer-8.39.4-x86.x86_64.run (den här installationen är för 32bit och 64bit systems).
Lägg filen i din Hemmapp i datorn.

Först göra filen körvänlig:

Kod: Markera allt

chmod a+x ati-driver-installer-8.39.4-x86.x86_64.run
Sen börja installera den:

Kod: Markera allt

sudo bash ./ati-driver-installer-8.39.4-x86.x86_64.run
Och följ anvisningarna på skärmen.

Sen när det är klart, gör detta i terminalen:

Kod: Markera allt

aticonfig --initial --force
Sen starta om datan.

Sen skriv i terminalen:

Kod: Markera allt

fglrxinfo

Det går bra fram tills det näst sista kodstycket, alltså precis innan jag ska starta om datorn..
Det här är vad jag får, och jag antar att nåt inte funkade...

Jag antar att det är som det ska nu.. men en sak bara... Jag vill ha upplösning 1280x960.. det finns inte listan, så jag tvingas ha 1280x1024...

Innan fixade jag det genom att ändra lite i xorg.conf, men nu har den här installationen ändrat där så det jag ändrade på då är borta... kan man lösa det på nåt sätt?

Skönt att det ordnade sig med grafiken. Du kan ändra igen i Xorg....bara du pillar bara på upplösningen igen så borde det funka klockrent.

Jag lyckas inte få till det... jag har gjort på så många olika sätt, men hur jag än pillar så går den bara tillbaks till att högsta möjliga upplösningen är 1024x768...
När jag har låtit den auto-configa enligt den metoden du angav ovan så kan jag alltså ha 1280x1024 som högst... men som sagt vill jag ha 1280x960...

Så här ser min xorg.conf ut nu (alltså efter att den auto-configurats):

stå ut tills imorgon så ordnar det sig...du måste ta monitor sektionen + reolution från din gamla och skriva över dem sektionerna på din nya...då fixar det sig.

Hmm, den där Xorg borde funka utan problem. Skriv i terminalen:

Så får vi se vad den säger. Om du har startat om 2 ggr eller mer nu, kolla igen om upplösningen har ändrats.

ja, jag kopierade hela det du skrev och klistrade in det över det gamla...

och jag provade även att göra typ likadant innan jag skrev om problemet här, och det fungerade inte... :/
En annan sak som jag blir lite konfunderad över är att när jag  låter xorg.conf vara som autoconfig-grejen vill att den ska, då flyttas alla ikoner på panelerna till helt konstiga ställen, och när jag högerklickar på dom så är "move"-alternativet inaktiverat... :/

meeen... vad sjutton ska jag göra då då :P
antingen köra i lite för hög upplösning och tvingas ha allting stretchat på längden, eller ha outhärdligt låg upplösning :P

eller möjligtvis gå tillbaka till windows, vilket jag känner att det är lite för tidigt för..

men tack så jättemycket för hjälpen iaf, och säg gärna till om du kommer på någonting :)
