Gomorgon

Blev lite error igår så jag tog en stor whiskey och la mig och sov. Knapparna för restart och stänga av försvann, även nätverkssymbolen och möjligheten till Internet, alla ramar på programmen och andra grejor så det blev till slut helt okörbart.

Jag funderar på om jag ska göra så att jag slänger in Ubuntu igen från start ikväll. Går ju ganska snabbt. Ska man ha aktiverat desktop effects innan man gör allt detta? Den symbolen försvann ju senare.

Sen kör jag in detta om jag har tänkt rätt och läst våra försök:

1. Uppdateringar via nätet

2. Backup av xorg

3. Installera Drivers  ati-driver-installer-8.40.4-x86.x86_64.run

    (Ska jag köra "Pre-Installation Checks" ?

· chmod a+x ati-driver-installer-8.40.4-x86.x86_64.run
· sudo bash ./ati-driver-installer-8.40.4-x86.x86_64.run
· sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
· * ändra:
Drivers "ati"
till
Drivers "fglrx"

3. Starta om och kolla fglrxinfo och se att det är ATI

4. Ska jag köra sudo aticonfig --initial –force ??

5. Installera XGL

6. sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf.original-0 /etc/X11/xorg.conf

7. Kolla så detta ligger rätt i Xorg

8. Starta om och byta till Gnome-Xgl

Sen ska det vara klart eller hur om jag ser vår konversation?

Beryl eller compiz blir nästa steg men jag tänkte det skulle vara bra att jag fick till en personlig guide som jag kan spara så jag slipper tänka till varje gång ett försök misslyckas :-)

Ska testa att köra in Beryl, lär ju köra fast. Jag kan inte fatta vad som är problemet. När jag väl kan logga in med XGL så kan jag helt plötsligt inte gå in i Ati catalyst control center och inte heller enabla desktop effects..why??

Kom förbi grafikfelet och installerade Beryl denna gång. Får upp ikonen men inte mer.

Inga effekter, fick något felsvar att Beryl inte kunde starta i Terminalen..XGL-kunde inte starta..hmm

Zinden...hilfe. Tror denna runda har pajat ihop också.

funkar GLX session? Om ja, då är allt som det ska med grafiken, annars funkar inte GLX alls om nåt är strul.

När det verkar vara den som är paj Och ati kontrollpanel kan ej starta heller, oc inte desktopeffects..

Jo, det stämmer. Sätt till "False" eller 0 (noll).

Har ändrat dessa två och startat om, när jag startar Beryl får jag detta svar i terminalen:

Beryl manager 5617 Critical Beryl-xgl kan inte köras  sucess

Detta felsvar kommer typ 100 gånger i rad..

Det är XGL som inte vill fungera, ingen direct rendering:

But why??

Jag har fått det att fungera..jävlar anamma till slut. Hittade en guide som funkade prima. Fick uppdatera Compiz efter sen funkar det i princip perfekt. Fick felsvar att paket var trasigt men uppdaterade så gick det bra.

Det enda felsvar jag får nu är något med temat:

/usr/bin/compiz.real (decoration) - Warn: Property ignored because version is 20061011 and decoration plugin version is 20070319

Sen så slutar temat att fungera om jag stänger ner terminalen..skumt...så ska det inte vara.

Kan inte få upp Alt+f2 om jag inte har terminal öppen och har kört emerald --replace &

Så var det dags igen Ny hårddisk, ny ubuntu-installation...

Installerade fglrx mha Envy. Installerade xgl och fixade scripten som guiden säger. Sen provade jag fglrxinfo och fick då upp att den fortfarande körde med mesa. Jag hade då inte startat om ännu, så jag gjorde det, loggade in med xgl och allt såg ut som om någon mått väldigt väldigt dåligt. Eftersom man inte kunde se något mer än sudd där menyerna ska vara så startade jag om igen, och loggade denna gång in med vanlig gnome (ej xgl). DÅ upplös hanteraren för proprietära drivisar att nu använde den sådana. Körde fglrxinfo igen, och nu får jag upp
Så fglrx verkar ju funka. Det gör däremot INTE xgl. Det blir fortfarande bara nåt suddigt kladd där menyerna ska vara. Muspekaren och skrivbordsbakgrunden är däremot helt ok.


Edit: glxgears funkar fint i vanlig gnome-session också.

Nähä, datorn behövde tydligen bara svalna över natten. Nu går det att logga in med xgl också Jaja...

Ok nu har jag kommit till vägs ände... Jag har för närvarande ett radeon x1600 i burken och jag kör Feisty Fawn. Har prövat både med och utan envy. Har även prövat att köra scriptet, men inget fungerar. Sista försöket körde jag enligt manuella installationen och när jag startade om fick jag återställa xorg.conf eftersom skärmen blir svart när X startade. Jag har läst igenom forumet och letat ledtrådar men jag vet fortfarande inte vad jag gör för fel!!! 

Om någon har lust att hjälpa mig med detta skulle det vara mycket upskattat.

Och när jag kör fglrxinfo i termialen får jag:

Börjar tröttna ordentligt på detta och vill inte gå tillbaka till windows.

Testa ta din fungerande Xorg och ändra: till
Se om det funkar om inte så ändra tillbaka till vesa igen....för du kommer åt xorg via textbaserat med via kommandot: sen ändra och spara med ctrl+o (bokstaven o)  tror annars om du bara stänger ner filen med ctrl+x så frågar den om du vill spara.

Prövade att byta till fglrx i den "gamla fungerande" configen men då händer samma sak igen. Nämligen en svart skärm när X borde ha startat 

En annan sak som jag har funderat på.. vad är mesa? enligt vad jag har läst i tidigare postar vill amn att det ska stå nått i stil med
"ATI technology.."
"ATI (kortets namn)"
"drivrutinsversion"

Kan det vara nått som spökar med det där "mesa" tro?
