can't send mail [LÖST]

I am trying to send mail with telia, I do everything I normally do, incoming mail pop, outgoing with smtp passwords etc. I can receive but I can not send and I can't understand why. I was messing around yesterday and installed kubuntu through the ubuntu terminal, I just followed some instructions didn't know what I was doing really. At some point it said something about mail but i didn't understand it really and I just carried on installing. I do not know if I could send mail before the install 'cos I hadn't even come that far yet so I am not sure if it was the installation of kubuntu that messed things up, or if I am doing something wrong. I just copied all the information from my windows thunderbird, so it should work shouldn't it. I want to eventually not have to use windows so I really need to be able to send mail, can anyone help.

Welcome to the swedish ubuntu forum. We normally post in swedish...

Do the simple checks first.
1. Is the smtp server name spelled correct?
2. Is the user name correct?
3. Is the password correct?

Can you reach the server at al? Try to ping it. And connect to it with telnet.

Also check for the encryption. Maybe Telia uses SSL to send emails.

Server för utgående e-post: mailout.telia.com    < Outgoing mail

Skickar du med en adress från en annan leverantör så använd istället
From another ISP >  smtprelay1.telia.com)

Servrarna kräver ingen autentisering. No server autentification

You can also use Telias webmail.

Could you maybe think about an alternative to evolution? Thunderbird is imo a far better client for emails.
