Installera Ubuntu på en HP G62

Vilken ubuntu version ska jag använda för att installera på min g62:a?

Har testat både 11:10 & 12:04 och båda ger svart skärm efter installation, som inte går att komma förbi.

Trodde det skulle funka ootb när datorn var så pass ny, men icke.

Går det att rätta till och i så fall hur?

Testat, och det funkar fint

Men, hur gör jag sedan för att få det installerat och fungerande?
Testade att installera därifrån, men det blev "som vanligt" svart skärm när jag startade upp efter omstart

Du kan testa att sätta nodmodeset som boot options i Grub på din installerade version. Om det fungerar så kommer du att komma in i systemet. Det går att sätta nomodeset som en permanent boot options så här när du väl har kommit in i din Ubuntu-installation: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootO ... stallation

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS enables the new kernel-mode-setting (KMS) technology by default on most common video chipsets. While this is a major step forward for the graphics architecture in Ubuntu, in some rare cases KMS will prevent your video output from working correctly, or from working at all. If you need to disable KMS, you can do so by booting with the nomodeset option. You can also save this setting so that it's applied at every boot by adding it to your grub config

All drivers: nomodeset - this will disable the kernel modesetting feature and drop the user back to the old X.org infrastructure and behaviour.

Så kort och gott så har jag "fel" ny dator som inte klarar ubuntus nya krav på grafik? Låter ju i så fall lite tråkigt då den med bravur klarar win7, som brukar ha höga krav...

Nja. Det är väl snarare så att du behöver boota med nodmodeset. Det är väl inte hela världen. Det går ju att få Ubuntu att fungera med datorn. Men visst, om allt hade fungerat rakt av så hade du inte behövt strula med nomodeset.
