Uppdatera Ubuntu eller program går ej

Hej. Min Ubuntu har fått spader typ. (av det mildare slaget). Allting fungerar bra. Utom Synaptic, Firefox och Gnomes egen webläsare. Däremot går mailprogrammet bra, och musikspelaren Rythmbox. Så jag kommer ut på internet osv. Men kan alltså inte längre installera något nytt program eller uppdatera. Har för mig att installationerna började krångla så smått "utan vidare" och att jag då tänkte uppdatera till Ubuntu 8 från 7. Efter det kan inte ens Synaptic öppnas alls (eller "lägga till ta bort program"-tjänsten i program menyn). Så här står det när jag försöker (vilket inte säger mig så speciellt mycket):

Tacksam för någon teori om vad det betyder, och vad som borde göras.

Det verkar som att /var/lib/dpkg/status har blivit korrupt. Testa att köra följande kommandon för att använda backupen:

Kod: Markera allt

sudo mv /var/lib/dpkg/status /var/lib/dpkg/status-new
sudo mv /var/lib/dpkg/status-old /var/lib/dpkg/status

(sudo är för att få adminrättigheter, och mv är för att flytta/byta namn på filer) Du kan också testa att köra kommandot sudo apt-get install -f för att fixa trasiga paket.

Tack så mycket Lars, det gick utmärkt att byta namn på status-filen som du föreslog. Nu kan jag öppna Synaptic (inte webläsarna dock).

När jag försöker uppgradera står det först "579 new packages available". När jag väljer update så kommer rådet att göra en "partial update" först. Vilket jag lyder. Då kommer texten: "67 packages are being removed, 199 installed, 941 upgraded, total 722mb". Och att updateringen inte kan/får avbrytas. Jag väljer ok. Texten "Fetching 1140 packages" visas. Uppskattad hämt tid, ca knappt 1 timme. När det bara är några minuter kvar kommer beskedet: "update failure, no installations where made" eller liknande. Här bifogar jag lite fräckt det besked som jag fick:

Känns ju lite segt. Har någon tagit bort viktiga filer från någon server, eller är det mina filer som spökar någonstans? (Verkar vara 18 filer här som update inte hittar.) Skall vara 17 filer, och jag ser manuellt att de inte heller finns på servern, när jag letar nu.

Det verkar som att filerna har försvunnit från den svenska servern, prova att använda någon annan. Gå till System/Administration/Programvarukällor och ändra till ett annat land (i Norge finns de kvar t.ex.). Så här veckan efter en ny version har släppts kan det vara bra att inte använda huvudservern.

Hej, tack för hjälpen och de goda uppslagen. Visade sig att filerna mycket riktigt verkade finnas kvar på den norska servern. Eller åtminstone de flesta av dem. För installationen slutar med problem lika fullt. Fast av en något annorlunda karaktär. Nu står det istället såhär:

Och så där håller det på. Jag kortade av eländet lite här. Men principen verkar vara att det är fel på flera av filerna, och att programmet "kino" dyker upp på nästan varannat error budskap.
