Felsäker läge helt plötsligt

Efter att ha blivit tokig på skiten installerade jag om. Allt verkar fungera. Fått igång skrivbordseffekter, ändrat så att det står Composite "1" i xorg.conf och fått igång propriteära drivrutiner för ATI. Tänkte jag skulle vara duktig och ställa in korrekt monitor så att jag kan använda alla upplösningar. Så jag gjorde det och ändrade till 1600x1200 och 85 Hz. Startade om som man ska. Det skulle jag tydligen inte ha gjort. Nu blev det felsäkert läge och något vesagrafikkort tydligen. Spelar ingen roll hur många gånger jag ändrar till fglrx och startar om det ändrar bara tillbaks till vesa.

Snälla hjälp mig innan jag blir tokig. Jag är en kass nybörjare men vill så gänra testa att köra ubuntu.

du ska välja vesa, så ska det gå att starta. o sen installera om drivarna.
annars där det är textbaserat skriv då detta
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
välj vesa som dina grafik drivar, starta om o installera om dem
riktigt igen.

hehe jo på så sätt funkar det men jag får ju köra i 800x600. Det verkar helt tokigt att man inte ska kunna ställa in korrekt skärm utan att allt ska balla ur. Hoppas att någon har koll på hur man återställer det hela.

Ingen som har någon koll på detta problem? Någon sa att ubuntu själv gjorde en backup på xorg.conffilen. Kan det stämma? I så fall hur återställer jag den?

Jag hittade en backup av xorg.conf så nu funkar det igen. Jag kan dock inte ändra till rätt skärm utan att allt blir konstigt igen. Hur ska jag bära mig åt för att få andra upplösningar och uppdateringsfrekvenser?
